(Thank you again for this review which led to the Catapult purchase over the Fenix TK30). It was pitch black at 5am and 18 degrees F. Purpose was to walk my dog through a small forest section - about 100 yards - onto a golf course that is surrounded by forest in the Pennsylvania mountains. My goal with the light was to see my way in the dark but also spot any dangers at a distance like black Bears.

Well, we traveled through the forest section and got to the golf course. As the dog sprinted out onto the course I kept the flashlight on low power and scanned the tree lines around the course. I saw something about 125 yards away which was in our usual direction of travel. I quickly twisted the flashlight into high mode. The object was a huge black bear about 10 yards outside of the forest and 125 yards from us. I kept the light on him and called my dog to return home. My dog sprinted past me and returned home. The bear then turned my way and I could see his eyes reflecting back at me like two large yellow flashlights. He turned and went back into the woods and we went home.

I would consider this a very successful test of the throw of this light. The Catapult delivered exactly the light throw I was looking for and served its purpose. It is a keeper.

I did have a Fenix TK15 around my neck as a backup since it was pitch black out. The TK15 had about half the useful throw of the Catapult XM-L for my purposes and would have never spotted that black Bear at 125 yards. The Fenix TK15 would have spotted the Bear at about 60 yards but that would have been too close since my dog runs about 30 yards in front of me.

大意是这用户遛狗到高尔夫球场，用弩弓XM-L低档扫射周围的树木时看到125码外有东西，他迅速把弩弓转高档，那东西原来是只大黑熊。他用弩弓一直照射那熊，最后牠转身走了。
他其实也系着一把Fenix TK15做后备，他推想TK15约距60码能照到那熊，但这离那熊太近了。
